SOCIAL MEDIA AND MARKETING TOOLKIT
Please share your assets and imagery with us. Menus, photos, signature dishes, cocktails, preparation videos, press clippings, chef bios, releases and behind-the-scenes information will help us promote your event. Email these to foodbowl@latimes.com.
Promote your events via your own marketing channels, such as social media, newsletters, your website or flyers. Don’t forget to include the official FOOD BOWL hashtag: #31daysoffood.
Keep us updated on how your event is selling in the lead-up to and throughout the month of May. We’ll let consumers know when it’s sold out, or can evaluate what additional social and marketing support can be given to assist ticket sales, if needed.
Thank you to all who have registered for the 2019 FOOD BOWL.
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
CATEGORIES
There’s a category for almost any event you can imagine. Check the descriptions for some examples to get you started and then pick one or a few different days to hold your event.
Registration fees include listings online and in our printed program, inclusion in marketing, use of the FOOD BOWL logo and marketing materials, including a FOOD BOWL poster and decal.
GIVEBACK
Host a charity based event such as a bake sale or tribute dinner to raise money and awareness for your favorite cause tackling food waste, sustainability, food insecurity or hunger.
Pop-Ups & Parties
Host anything from block parties to pop-up taco bars to an oyster festival.
Brunch & Lunch
Create a unique themed event, lunch special or secret menu item. Celebrate your signature dishes, seasonal produce, chefs, both alums and current, or perhaps an overlooked cuisine.
Test Kitchen
Host a test kitchen experience in your restaurant where chefs can R&D and serve new dishes.
Things in a Bowl
Create a month-long menu special served in a bowl. But here’s the twist: The dish must use the special ingredient of Los Angeles Times’ choosing: artichoke.
Kids in the Kitchen
Create a family-friendly experience sure to delight all ages.
Exclusive Dinners & Dishes
101 Restaurants We Love, classic cafes and diners and new openings, host collaborative dinners, special Tasting menus and secret off-the-menu dishes exclusively during May.
Cocktails & Canapes
It’s all about drinks paired with canapes or complementing an inventive feast — think beer, wine, cocktails or even kombucha. Bars, bartenders and their communities are invited to create classes, pop-ups and exciting interactions with cocktails. For example: a cocktail bar crawl, mixology classes, competitions or a cocktail pairing with food options.
Panels & Talks
Host a roundtable with guest speakers at your restaurant. Or partner with a theater, college, food association or charity to highlight food issues.
Classes, Markets & Tours
Hold a cooking class revealing secrets to your signature dish. Teach knife and butchery skills. Conduct a tour of your local farmers market, demos featuring local or out-of-town chefs, partner a farmer with a chef for a tasting of produce, or introduce some unique new vendors.
